Ethan-Ethics or Euthanol. Translation: “Eat My Fumes”

Full Story Here.

Is this the ultimate twist on the old dooming expression from Marie Antoinette? As we burn out our oil, are we prepared to starve the planet for our cars? Is this ethical?

If I were in the bumper sticker business, I’d probably have sayings like “My SUV ate your dinner” (of course, I don’t own an SUV), with big growling teeth stretched out over a little family with arms extended with empty bowls, like some modern version of Oliver Twist asking for some more of the rice or corn that they grew for themselves.

We need to start using a new term liberally so that people understand what’s happening to the world’s food supply: I’ll call it “Ethan-Ethics” for now. Maybe “Euthanol” (a combination of euthanasia and ethanol) might be a better term?

Mumps Makes Comeback in 2006?

Full Story Here.

Every year, my family doctor and I have the same argument when she requests that we update our vaccinations and shots for the family. My son did the first level when he turned one, and the reaction was abhorant. I cannot inflict that kind of punishment on my child.

Every year, she brings me a few clippings that demonstrate how one scientist after another has refuted claims about vaccinations.

However, this year when we go for our annual check-up, I’ll bring this and a few articles with me because what we’re starting to see is that vaccinations are not preventing the spread of these diseases:

Eighty-four percent of the people between the ages of 18 and 24 who became ill in the outbreak had received the second recommended dose

I may be naive, but I think what we may have envision an evolution of disease prevention that’s based on education and the development of natural immune systems that are capable of fighting more virulent strains of common ailments that will always be with us.
