rabble: Greens vs NDP. Who’s greener?

As it turns out, the NDP are the choice of two former Green Party members.  Reasons cited include the history of the Greens in Europe (I would also mention the history here as well, where the Greens were once run by a very conservative Jim Harris), attitudes towards taxation and militarism and policies concerning international trade.

There’s one little post-thought on this discussion:  I’m not as manic about the environment as I am about proportional representation (PR).  This is an issue that has fallen off the NDP radar, but shouldn’t.  Without PR, we don’t have a true democracy.

Harper Plagiarism: Part II From the Harris Pages

Ontario knows what Harris is all about and yet the Harper Republicans Conservatives show time after time that, when their speeches are analyzed and compared, they aren’t telling us anything new.

Which is why we should all be very, very afraid.

First, it was copying or at least mimicking the speeches of John Howard .

Now, it’s come to light that Mike Harris has been someone to emulate .

If you think that’s admirable, then just ask Ontario taxpayers how they feel about that.  Services downloaded to cities to this day cripple municipal politics and local leaders.  Roads and hospitals are running out of funding because even the basic infrastructure can’t be supported as a result of Harris Tories.  Imagine what this downloading will be like when it hits a national level.

We’ve already seen a glimpse:  Listeriosis is Canada’s national version of Walkerton.

But getting back to the topic, how many times do speeches have to pulled from the closet to reveal the true intentions (and alignment) of the Harper Conservatives.

Of course, it’s really no secret what they’re all about, but as we identify just how close they are to people like Howard and Harris, Harper is definitely a wolf in sheep wool, sweater-vest clothing.

Bailout Bonus Cheques

Goldman Sachs has been busy, it seems.

The bailout package in the US was voted down once, but was revised and ultimately passed by the US Senate.  The will of the American people seemed to be overrun by the will of the financial ‘pundits’.

This is the greatest payoff in history and the world will pay for it.
