America vs Amerikkka

It could be argued that the first Civil War in the 1860s never ended in the US.

Blacks, Indigenous people, Women, Latino, those who identify in non-binary ways and many, many more people have had to claw at and grab their rights from those who think they’re in charge.

The battles seem constant and yet there’s suggestion that ‘Civil War 2.0’ is upon us.

This one is America vs Amerikkka.

For more than forty years, there’s been a slow eradication of gains made by progressive voices and we’re seeing a daily reminder that this battle is now taking place on American streets, by Americans, against Americans.

The rapidly spiraling situation is the culmination of colliding forces that have existed for decades. The advent of a mentally deranged authoritarian cult leader like Donald Trump, however, has created the precarious conditions for our cold war to turn red hot.

The deadly invasion of Minneapolis by heavily armed federal goons, combined with Trump’s deranged speech at Davos makes continued denial of our situation untenable.

Civil War. It is something that people of sound mind desperately want to avoid.

Unfortunately, we share a combustible country with “camouflage creeps” who collect weapons of war, purchase survival gear, and pathologically fantasize about finding meaning in their empty lives by slaughtering fellow Americans.

Imagine if a world leader stood up and said ‘you’re killing American citizens so we in the free world have a right to interfere and take over your country’.

Of course, this is precisely what Trump is saying to other countries that are going through their own versions of fragmentation, lead largely by media magnates, Russian bots and tech bro algorithms.

How will Canada defend itself if America erupts and Amerikkka stands above the rest? How do we prevent this from happening?

There are several like Mark Carney who are no longer whispering thoughts in the back of the room. Carney’s speech a couple of weeks ago was a call to action by the middle powers to act in solidarity against the bullies and the thugs. Hopefully, radical financial reform occurs soon and weakens the US economy more than Trump already has.

Maybe countries of the world will dump more US debt, making it impossible for them continue to float their bloated military machinery, all the while driving up inflation when Trump resorts to printing money like the Weimar Republic did prior to World War I.

I didn’t think the shadow of political insanity would grow to be as bad as it is, but here we are.
