The Imperial Vision of Tech
I’ve been following Gil Duran on AntennaPod (a fantastic open-source streaming service).
His podcast is cleverly titled The Nerd Reich.
If you don’t hate the techbros, you will after a few episodes from Gil.
That said, I feel it’s important to listen to his message to truly understand the levels of depravity and hubris that people like Peter Thiel, Elon Musk, Alex Karp and others possess and the depth to which they loathe simple ideas like free markets and democracy.
What set me off recently if this new article – Empires of AI (free access here) – penned by Eric Schmidt, of Google fame. He describes how the US is up against evil China in a war to control the AI platforms that people use to create silly images of Donald Trump on the toilet or essays about the history of Greek warfare. Or whatever.
This war will not remain in the digital sphere for long, but will become a battle for physical international resources to maintain superiority.
A new era of empirical madness.
Give me a break.
AI is hype.
AI is just a Ponzi scheme, where venture capitalists have turned to world governments to prop them up in order to keep the entire system from collapsing?
They’re the Barnums. We’re the suckers. Sure, we get to see a bearded lady or lizard man for the price of admission, but what’s the point?
AI is hype.
Without the massive energy-sucking, water-depleting, habitat-destroying data centres to provide physicality to this hype machine, it’s nothing but a house of cards about to collapse.
I’m so very disappointed to see all of the political and tech leaders pushing this agenda.
