Global Research ’2011 Year of the Dupe’: An Awesome Read

Global Research has released their 2011 Year of the Dupe article and it’s well worth reading for anyone that wants to know about what really happened in 2011.

The essence of the article addresses America’s expansion around the world and extension of hegemonic corporate powers universally.

It explores the deceit that’s being used to fool us into believing that a revolution is happening worldwide, while it also exposes the abyssmal coverage of the #occupy movement that occurred in North America and elsewhere.

Go ahead.  Click through, print off and grab a coffee and enjoy some truth for the holidays!

A Sad Day For The World

In the US, supposed leader of democracy worldwide, a contentious piece of legislation has finally passed and is now law.

Barack Obama has abandoned any sign of Hope and Change and has instead given in to Fear and Paranoia as he allowed the National Defense Authorization Act to go through.

This Act will allow the American military to arrest any American citizen without cause and without warrant if there’s even the most remote whiff of ‘terrorist’ smell to them.

Once arrested, people can be detained indefinitely.

These are basic principles that were fought against in the American War of Independence.

And now they’re gone.

And if they’re gone in the US – the birthplace of modern democracy – don’t expect better treatment elsewhere.

It won’t be long folks.  Arbitrary and multiple arrests will be coming.

US pushing for (at least) one more front

It’s no secret that the US is “jonesing” to engage in battle with Iran, and the latest ‘booga booga’ event will likely tip the scales and provide all the justification that they’re looking for to engage in some kind of encroachment on Iran.

We know that latest scare tactic against is nothing but that when someone like an official like ex-intelligence analyst Robert Baer joins the chorus of people warning that the US has it all wrong when it comes to policy concerning Iran.

This is exactly the kind of nonsense that brought about WWI and when the US encroaches on Iran, WWIII will be nothing short of official.

News of the World Whistle Blower Found Dead

In an astounding update to the News of the World scandal, Sean Hoare – the man who blew open the phone hacking scandal related to Rupert Murdoch’s media empire – has been found dead.

The ‘media’ – the so called truth tellers that we should stop trusting – have quickly put out stories that it’s purely coincidental and accidental.

Good.  I believe that.

By the way, did anyone ever see ‘The Bourne Ultimatum’ where a reporter for the Guardian gets gunned down because he was talking about ‘Blackbriar’ on his cell phone?

Toronto G20 Use of Agent Provocateurs

This goes in the ‘no s7!t’ pile of obvious conclusions about what happened last year during the G20 conference in Toronto, but it’s still worth reporting to the general public that what went down last year was just plain wrong.

Once again, we see that fascism is alive and well in Canada and 40% of our fellow citizens voted for this!

Western Hypocrisy Raw in the Middle East

As things fall into the hands of more military regimes in the Middle East, democracy is not spreading, it’s failing.

The failure of democracy in the Middle East exposes the lavish hypocrisy of our own leaders.

Unfortunately, the great enablers of the dictators and tyrants of the world are us.  The people of the ‘West’.  Our governments – on our behalf – are deciding every day that it’s OK to support Ghadaffi Duck, but we have trade embargoes and can’t support someone like Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the leader of Iran.  It’s not because they’re cut from the same cloth, but because the Libyans seem to have come to terms with Israelis committing genocide against the Palenstinians whereas the Iranian leader is just learning about these crimes and wants to do something about the situation.

Westerners have a history of picking their dictators more out of who’s friend with Israel as opposed to who’s friendly with their own people.

Our hypocrisy is showing.

The first thing I heard yesterday was how Moammar Ghadaffi had arranged to have jet planes shoot down citizens indiscriminately.  This is the same man that runs the same regime that we have been doing business with for decades.

As we enable this type of behaviour, we say ‘hey … it’s OK.  Keep it going, keep your people quiet, but just don’t let the flow of oil stop.’

What we need is a comprehensive list of any company that is doing business in countries like Libya and arrange a boycott of their products and start a campaign that says ‘we understand that you’re gluttonous and greedy bastards that could  give two shits about the lives of peons, but we’re not buying your crap anymore.’  A consumer boycott is ultimately the most effective route to follow because it does two things:

  1. It ‘outs’ the corrupt economic agents that pretend to represent us when they do business with dictators
  2. It hits them where it hurts:  the pocketbook.

Act now.  Save Libyan lives.

Fair Game: Must See Movie

The movie Fair Game, starring Sean Penn and Naomi Watts, captures the life of Valerie Plame-Wilson in the run up to the Iraq war.

It is a must see movie, but bear this in mind: it will piss you off.

It showcases just how corrupt the Republican government was in the years that followed 9/11 and clearly demonstrates that there are still a lot of unanswered questions about what happened to the Wilsons, why they weren’t believed, the shallow evidence that gave way for the Iraq war (something both Stephen Harper and Michael Ignatieff would have joined up with had they been in charge at the time), the morally bankrupt media infrastructure that fuels the lies and a tonne of other questions about the US political landscape.

Again, I’ll repeat:  it is a must see movie.

However, because of its topical nature, it leaves a simple Canuck like me wondering what kind of manipulation we face every day in Canada. The same people that ran the Bush Administration are extremely close to the Harper Administration / Regime.

How much longer should we allow that to continue?

Israel War Crimes, Canadian Cowardice

Israel has finally been condemned for the acts of violence and cruelty against a humanitarian flotilla in the Mediterranean this past summer.

A summary of the conclusions:

  • Grave violations of human rights law.
  • Clear evidence to support prosecutions for ”wilful killing” and ”torture”.
  • IDF used ”totally unnecessary and incredible violence”.
  • Blockade of Gaza is ”illegal”.
  • Israel dismissed the report as ”one-sided” and ”extremist”.

Canada’s response?  It’s Israel.  We’ve got their back.

Unfortunately, our government’s complacency and failure to be politically objective has made us all complicit in crimes against humanity.

So now what?

Breaking: Israel Attacks Aid Flotilla

Israel has attacked a massive aid flotilla off the Mediterranean Coast this morning, killing dozens and potentially destroying an effort to bring aid to people in the Gaza Strip and Palestine.

The Israeli response seems largely premeditated, accusing the aid workers of being terrorists and criminals, despite the fact that most were members of European Parliament, peace prize winners, a Holocaust survivor, and aid organizations.

People:  we have to actively boycott anything from Israel.  We have to lobby all of our politicians to bring on harsh punishment to the state of Israel for their crimes against humanity.

Our Prime Minister will no doubt condemn the aid workers in favour of the Israeli action, even as he meets with Benjamin Netanyahu (or should I say Netan-yahoo?) later today.

I Support My …

The Yellow Ribbon campaign has always felt like military-driven propaganda to me and there doesn’t seem to be a better time to remind the world that I Support My:

  • Nurses
  • Doctors
  • Pediatricians
  • GP/Family Doctors
  • Police Forces
  • Fire Fighters
  • Garbage collectors
  • People that work in recycling centres
  • Policy analysts
  • Government page employees
  • Government librarians
  • Politicians (that’s right, people who are brave enough to accept a shitty pay base compared to what they could earn in the private sector and put up with constant public scrutiny of what they do)
  • Advisors and case workers that are employed with politicians’ offices
  • Public legal advisors
  • Coast Guard employees
  • Search / Rescue
  • Forestry Management employees
  • Bus and subway drivers
  • Statisticians
  • Programmers & web developers that help maintain sites for cities, provinces and the federal government
  • and the millions of other people that make my life better because they choose to work for the public.

I also support the United Nations  and Peace Keeping efforts and not NATO-lead military incursions or ‘first strikes’.

I Support ALL Public Employees and I don’t favour one group (the military) because they happen to represent ‘security’ and ‘safety’.  They do a swell job, but they’re not the only people that are paid by us.

When the Conservative Party of Canada endorses ads that literally throw any other politician ‘under the bus’ because they don’t jump to attention when people say ‘Support Our Troops’, one has to question why they insist on being so insensitive towards the rest of the world that works towards peace and reconciliation as opposed to war.  Alienating the entire public work force in exchange for what they see as a few political points is something that just shouldn’t be tolerated.

Moreso, the timing for the conservative minions could not have been worse to come out with a video that slams Michael Ignatieff and other Liberals (I’m sorry … I can’t find the original source).  They show a frustrating insensitivity towards the families and friends of many young women who may have lost their lives to a senior military leader.

As a reminder, the ‘Support Our Troops’ mentality is one that’s driven by Repulican sentiment in the US and is rooted in the American desire to conquer and dominate the entire planet.  As Canadians, we have neither the resources nor the desire to do so, so why are we being forced to invest so much in the war machine?

P.S.  I also support Peace On Earth.
