The Myth of the Fiscal Conservative Continues

The United States created a new level of deficit that grew by the size of the Brazilian economy in just two years.

What does that mean?

The Trump Republicans ADDED nearly $2 TRILLION to the deficit since the beginning of 2017.

This put the US deficit at a RECORD level of nearly $22 TRILLION.

The story of the fiscal conservative has to come to a quick and rapid demise because IT IS MYTH.

There have been few Conservatives anywhere on record who have created a surplus or even a balanced budget in my lifetime.

The Stephen Harper Conservatives pretended they did in 2016, but we know it was only because of playful use of accounting.

To add to this story, Conservatives and Republicans typically follow the same pattern:

• Promise to spend less and get ‘the books in order’
• Be more accountable and transparent
• Cut taxes
• Reduced cash flow from less tax revenue results in … CRISIS!
• Crisis = cutbacks
• Cutbacks = cancellation of many programs that are important to the social fabric of our countries (eg. health care, environment, social programs)

We’ve seen it time and again.

Doug Ford is replicating the same trick by creating more deficits than ever before. Even Liberals couldn’t spend as quickly as he is now.

Why do people keep falling for this crap?
