Trump’s ‘Reichstag’ Moment

The Capitol of the United States is on fire with gossip and speculation about who wrote ‘the letter’ to the New York Times this week.

My prediction: no one (important) did it.

In fact, I’d go so far as to suggest the whole thing has been conveniently staged in time to massively discredit the New York Times and similar media institutions.

Why?

To shame them as the US enters the mid-term election season.

There’s no better way to win a race than to shape the discussion on your own terms.

If the audience and peripheral potential audience of voters are even modestly doubtful about the credibility of mainstream media, Trump’s version of the story will win out.

It’s been their strategy from day one: discredit the media.

It worked in 2016 and it continues to work.

And when they lift the lid on this piece, it’ll crush mainstream media and shame them into nothingness, giving Trump and all Republicans carte blanche to say, do and act on what they want.

It’s a well crafted manipulation designed to give Trump the upper hand.

The trap was set, the New York Times jumped in with both feet and they’ll be ruined for it.

Just like the early days of the Hitler regime, the media and – more importantly, TRUTH – will be the first casualty in a long series of battles designed to win the war against humanity for a handful of old, privileged white men.
